About the bands:
David Wax Museum (duo)
David Wax Museum blends traditional Mexican folk music with American rock to create their signature Mexo-Americana sound. With NPR hailing them as "pure, irresistible joy" and raves everywhere from SPIN and Entertainment Weekly to The New York Times and The Guardian (which dubbed the music "global crossover at its best"), they have performed on the main stage at the Newport Folk Festival and were chosen by TIME.com as one of the "Ten Acts that Rocked South By Southwest". They have toured around the globe including to Czech Republic and China, and have earned invitations to support The Avett Brothers, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Buena Vista Social Club, and more. In 2017, the band's co-founders David Wax and Suz Slezak celebrated their 10th year of making music together, performed their 1000th show, and released their seventh record, Electric Artifacts, a compilation of unreleased material from the past decade. For the Concert in the Blind, David & Suz will perform as a duo.
Lowland Hum --
Lowland Hum is an art-folk band based in Charlottesville, Virginia, made up of husband/wife team Daniel and Lauren Goans. The band's songs have been described as poetic and evocative, and their arrangements minimal, hushed and dynamic. Lowland Hums performances are characterized by the space they create together for their audiences. Their sharing style paves the way for moments of intimate vulnerability and levity alike. Daniel and Lauren are a prolific, two-person creative factory writing, arranging and producing all of their own music, and honing a cohesive design aesthetic to match the hushed simplicity of their sound. In 2017, Lowland Hum released Thin and toured the US and Europe, sharing the stage with Josh Ritter, Jesca Hoop, and Penny and Sparrow along the way. In the first months of 2018, Lowland Hum is touring the US supporting The Oh Hellos and will also release a compilation EP of recordings from the first two years of the bands existence. Both their live show and studio releases have garnered critical acclaim from the likes of NPR, Paste Magazine, Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, LA Times, The Washington Post, American Songwriter and others.
