They say that in Somerville the houses are so close together you can reach out your window and shake your neighbor's hand. In the most densely populated city in New England, you might ask, "How can *I* grow my own food?"
Never fear, the Green Team is here! Groundwork Somerville's Green Team youth will be leading this free workshop on how to grow food in small spaces--like containers and yards of all shapes and sizes.
You'll also get to tour South Street Farm, our urban ag innovation center, which features many of the container gardening styles we'll cover in the workshop.
5:00-5:30: Tour of South Street Farm 5:30-6:30: Small-space gardening workshop
We are glad to be hosting this workshop as part of the City of Somerville's SustainaVille Week!
This workshop is FREE, with registration required. You also have the option to purchase urban gardening supplies when you register, which you can pick up at the workshop. All proceeds support Groundwork Somerville's urban agriculture education programs.
