Having moved NRFF audiences to tears with All in Her Stride, a tender portrait of a dying friend, and Women are the Answer, a thought-provoking look at the global birth control movement, in 2015, Fiona Cochrane returns with an the infectious story of the 25 Tracks project as two independent musicians set out to create and release a fresh song every two weeks for the course of a year. Despite the unorthodox bare-bones studio (a renovated train carriage) and the constant clash of the two musicians styles (she wants jazz flute, he wants dirty guitar), the duo combine to create something unique and incredible. Most importantly though, the pair put together music not to find fame or fortune, but to find new ways of expressing themselves, to draw out new happiness in audiences, and to provoke other humans listening in to engage in their own way what could be a better motive for music or film than democracy through culture?
