Live at Studio5: KINGS OF THE LOBBY
Chris Madsen, tenor sax and arrangements Brandon Hunt, guitar Sean Van Dril, keyboard Andrew Vogt, bass Zack Marks, drums
Kings of the Lobby is a jazz/funk band founded in 2015 by Chicago saxophonist Chris Madsen. The band was created in the mold of the classic Brecker Brothers band but has carved out a niche performing Madsens arrangements of pop standards from the 70s through the 90s. Equally at home playing soft grooves and intense funk, the Kings bring jazz flare to some of pop musics finest songs by artists like Prince, David Bowie, and Brian McKnight.
The Kings have headlined at such venues as Andys Jazz Club, the Fulton Street Collective, Reggies music joint, Martyrs, and UICs Tuesdays at One concert series, and the group boasts some of Chicagos very finest musicians. Their debut album is available for streaming and purchase on most standard platforms.
We'll be recording this performance for Chicago Jazz Live on WDCB, so you'll be part of the studio audience! See you there! -SR
