Live at Studio5: SARAH MARIE YOUNG

Sarah performed at Studio5 in 2017 and I can't tell you how many times we've been asked when she will be returning. We are delighted to welcome her back.

She is an award winning singer, songwriter and musician who was a semi-finalist in the 2010 Thelonious Monk Competition and the winner of the 2011 Montreux Voice Competition judged by Quincy Jones, from which she recorded her first full length album "Too Many Februaries" at Balik Farm Studios in Switzerland and performed it at The Montreux Jazz Festival in 2012. After being signed by the dutch label Snip Records in 2014, Sarah released and toured Europe with her second album, "Little Candy Heart". Sarah's latest album, "Recess" was self-produced and released in April 2016. In 2017 she was featured with Postmodern Jukebox, and in 2018 appeared on Playing For Change's "Skin Deep" video with Buddy Guy.

You should also know Sarah will be starring in a new play at The Apollo Theater in Chicago called "Djembe! The Show", starting in June. Its an interactive musical that spans many different musical styles and tells a powerful and sometimes cruel history of the Djembe from West Africa to the western world. Sarah's Studio5 performance will be essentially her final show for some months before singing in this musical 8 times a week!
