Sacramento County Historical Society 2013 Awards Dinner
Sacramento County Historical Society's 2013 awards dinner and fundraiser features dinner at the Dante Club, master of ceremonies Matias Bombal, and a live performance by the Harley White Jr. Orchestra performing big-band jazz. SCHS will also present its annual awards for publication, education and historic preservation.
The Harley White Jr. Orchestra will perform an early set of 1920s-1950s big-band jazz, starting at 6 PM, and a late set at 8:30 PM following the awards program. Between sets, Sacramento impresario, raconteur, man-about-town and jazz aficionado Matias Bombal will present a short talk about the jazz acts that played Sacramento's many jazz nightclubs from the 1920s to the 1950s.
This year's SCHS Awards will be presented to Annette Kassis, for her book on the history of Weinstock's department store, Downtown Sacramento Partnership guides Mike Munson and Shawn Peter for their downtown history tours, Blackbird Restaurant owner Carina Lampkin for restoration of the 1931 People's Accpetance Building, and a special President's Award to Maryellen Burns for her work on local history initiatives including "You Are Where You Eat" and "If This House Could Talk."
Members of Sacramento County Historical Society and event sponsor the Sacramento Old City Association may purchase tickets at discounted prices for themselves and their families. Member-priced ticket purchases will be compared against member lists; non-members will be required to pay the balance at the door, or join SCHS.
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
TICKET SALES END AT NOON ON FRIDAY, APRIL 5.
Ticket Options:
$40 for members of Sacramento County Historical Society (SCHS) or the Sacramento Old City Association (SOCA) and their families.
$50 for non-members.
$100 Contributor level: This price includes meal and your name listed in the evening's event program. This price includes a $50(for non-members) or $60 (for members) tax-deductible contribution to Sacramento County Historical Society.
Menu Selections: Please choose which dinner you would like when ordering tickets below. Menu options are:
Prime Rib -- House classic served with aus jus and creamy horseradish
Chicken Madeira -- with capers, olives, artichokes and lemon wine sauce
Cheese Ravioli with a Marinara Sauce
(All dinners include penne pasta with basil cream sauce, vegetables, salad, bread, dessert and coffee. Open bar for beer, wine and mixed drinks.)
