Close Associates: Celebrating 80 years of Architectural Practice Upstairs Gallery Opens Thursday, May 10, 68 p.m.
Not many architectural firms can weather style trends and economic cycles to reach a lifespan of 80 years, but Close Associates has built a loyal following and continues to win awards today. Hennepin History Museum is pleased to present a retrospective exhibition on the history of the firm.
From original watercolor sketches to handmade models to glamorous architectural photos to limited-edition furniture, this multidimensional exhibit shows the evolution of the firm from legendary Midcentury Modern designs to todays contemporary work. Close Associates has designed hospitals and offices, research institutes and schools, but is best known for the design of over 800 custom homes many built in Hennepin County.
Meet longtime Close Associates partner Gar Hargens and associate Andrew Peterson at the opening, and look for more related events in the next Hennepin History magazine.
The opening reception is free. RSVP is requested.
Exhibit dates: May 10 to July 29, 2018
Visiting the museum at this time does require the use of stairs.
