The "Grand Central Station of the West"
The Transbay Transit Center Project is a visionary transportation and housing project that transforms downtown San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Areas regional transportation system by creating a Grand Central Station of the West in the heart of a new transit-friendly neighborhood. The approximately $6 billion project will replace the former Transbay Terminal at First and Mission Streets in San Francisco with a modern regional transit hub connecting eight Bay Area counties and the State of California through 11 transit systems: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Greyhound, Muni, SamTrans, WestCAT Lynx, Amtrak, Paratransit and future High Speed Rail from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim.

PRESENTER BIOGRAPHY Dennis Turchon, TJPA, Senior Construction Manager
Dennis Turchon joined the TJPA in 2013 after working for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for 25 years. Mr. Turchon worked in various different Caltrans districts throughout the State, with 24 of those years in their construction division. Noteworthy projects in San Francisco that he handled as construction manager are the SFOBB West Approach replacement, the SFOBB West Span superstructure seismic retrofit, the SFOBB South/South detour and most recently the Doyle Drive Replacement (Phase 1). He is a licensed civil engineer in the State of California and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
MUST READ DETAILS FOR THE TOUR:
ATTIRE: For safety reasons, full-length pants are required on site. Guests wearing dresses, shorts, capris, skirts or leggings will not be allowed onto the construction site. SHOES: If you are not wearing the appropriate footwear, you will not be allowed onto the construction site. Shoes must be close toed, leather and have a defined heel. Shoes that would fit this description would be hiking boots, leather boots with a low heel, work boots or leather shoes with a defined low heel. For safety reasons, you may not participate in the tour if you are wearing open toed shoes, high heeled shoes/boots, sneakers, sandals, pumps, fashion boots, loafers or any other shoes that are not considered safe for a construction site.

LOCATION: The presentation and safety briefing will take place at 201 Mission Street, Suite 2100. You will be escorted onto the construction site by a construction tour guide.
TRANSPORTATION: The TJPA office is located on the corner of Mission and Beale Street. TJPA encourages guests to walk, bike, take a taxi or take Muni to the event. The building is centrally located near several transit centers including the Temporary Transbay Terminal and the Embarcadero BART station. PARKING: Event parking will not be available. Metered street parking is limited in neighboring blocks. Some parking lots and garages are within walking distance. All visitors MUST WEAR APPROPRIATE FOOT PROTECTION when entering the TJPA construction site, including boots or hard leather shoes, hard hats, reflective safety vests & safety glasses. Hard hats, safety vests & glasses will be provided.
SAFETY: Due to safety requirements and capacity limitations, attendance is limited to invited guests only. All tour participants must be accompanied by an escort from the TJPA team. TJPA will provide a safety briefing discussing some of the construction activities in progress and the safety issues that visitors must be aware of before starting the tour. As we are entering an active jobsite, all safety regulations must be strictly adhered to. SAFETY EQUIPMENT: If you are participating in the tour, TJPA will provide you with a hardhat, safety vest and safety glasses before you go on site. SAFETY RELEASE: All guests must sign a Construction safety release and waiver of liability before entering the construction site. Your LAI representative will have this on site for you to sign before the tour begins. ESCORT: In order to access the site, all visitors MUST sign a release form and must be accompanied by an escort from the Transbay team. This is an active construction site. As a result, it is of the utmost importance to stay with your escort at all times throughout the tour. When the tour has completed, please check-out with your tour guide in order to ensure that everyone is safe and accounted for. Prior to entering the site, your escort will provide you with a hazard briefing. The briefing will ensure you recognize and avoid hazardous conditions in the construction environment, and will describe measures to reduce and control exposure to hazards. MEAL: A box lunch will be served.
