"Calendar Girls" - presented by New Surry Theatre
Tim Firths popular comedy is based on the true story of members of a Womens Institute (WI) in Yorkshire County who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund. When Annies husband dies of Leukemia, she and her best friend, Chris, resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They convince four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an alternative calendar. The calendar becomes a huge success, their story gains international attention, and all involved find themselves examining their lives through the lens of their newfound fame.
