Craig Childs
Solace: An Evening of Spoken Word, Stories, and Music
This dynamic storytelling revolves around a single performer, Childs, and an array of personal stories in wild places. He is accompanied by a variety of instruments and vocals, and dazzling, sometimes haunting on-screen effects. The show started ten years ago in an old theater in Paonia and has been an annual, sold-out mix between a Moth performance, a Ted Talk, and a dark, transformative Prairie Home Companion.
The show consists of stories woven through performances by Russ Chapman, who will be performing for this year's Blues and Brews Festival in Telluride, globally touring vocalist Gabrielle Louise, and David Alderdice, a bearded percussion wizard. And avant-garde dancer is in the mix, along with a 15-year-old whiz kid on marimba and tuba. Tightly performed, deeply emotional, and highly entertaining, this show will be a once in a lifetime experience.
Online ticket sales end at noon day of show--please buy tickets in person at the theater tonight!
