The AZTLAN Dance Company presents AZTLAN: Por Vida (Forever, For Lives) 2018, May 10-13th at the Santa Cruz Theater, 1805 East Seventh Street in Austin, Texas. Por Vida 2018 showcases the companys cool, smooth take on original Austin Eastside movement storytelling. From metal rock induced mariachi to the electrifying sounds of boogaloo, Aztlan merges tradition and modernity into new theatrical dance compositions that give sight and sound to the moves and grooves that inspires original East Austin culture.

Notes AZTLAN artistic director Roén Salinas, we are the product of our experiences, and our experiences inform our movement choreographies as well as the vocabularies to express them. In Por Vida, the AZTLAN dancers richly perform themselves as much as they perform the dance sequences. Its AZTLAN love, por vida (forever, for lives).

The AZTLAN Dance Company was founded in 1974 during the height of the Austin Chicano Arts Renaissance to create a stable and conducive environment for the creation, preservation, and performance of Xicano/Latino dance in Austin, Texas. Celebrating 40+ years of cultural programming, the company presents innovative and thought provoking work that shares important cultural stories and community truths about the US Latino/Xicano experience.
