Young Frankenstein is based on the Mel Brooks comedy film, which is an affectionate parody of the classic 1930s horror film. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania, and is drawn into repeating the experiments of his ancestors with the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally). Full of hilarious lyrics and show-stopping dance numbers, Young Frankenstein is every bit as relevant to newcomers as will be to audience members who will remember the original. With all the panache of the screen sensation and added extra theatrical flair, Young Frankenstein is scientifically-proven, monstrously good fun.
