Understanding Terroir - the taste of a place
Terroir is one of those intimidating words that make you think you know what it means but also make you wonder if you really do?
In this class you will deconstruct the idea of terroir (the land, water, air, handling) of grapes from various regions and how they grow and how "nurture" affects their ultimate taste. Showcasing the differences in varietals (say, Chardonnay) from one part of the world with another. You'll come away with a deeper understanding of how certain soils and climates affect a grape and its taste, bouquet and finish.
Rhone Grown in Washington
Rhone region grapes are world famous such as: Syrah, Marsanne, Grenache, Roussanne, Mourvedre styled wines which has captured the imagination of wine lovers and are now routinely grown in Washington State. Taste and learn more about these fabulous grapes which have made the successful transition from old world to new world
Wine Grapes of the World: Global Comparisons with Master Sommelier Evan Goldstein
Syrah Around the World will compare Washington State with that of their global benchmarks.

Your olfactory sense (smell) plays a HUGE part in the joys of wine enjoyment as does your palate and in this class, through various exercises, shows you how powerful and sensitive these senses are.

Wine glass' shapes and sizes and materials are not that way by accident! For master wine glass makers like Riedel the optimization of wine enjoyment carried by their glasses is key! This Riedel master class explores the effects of enhancing the true joy of wine through various wine glasses and the correct level of pours.

How does Red Mountain differ than Walla Walla? What are the distinct differences of grapes that come out of the Rocks of Milton Freewater? Come and investigate the various Washington AVAs (American Viticulture Areas) and what sets them apart from the others
Deconstructing a Perfect Pair: Wine and Cheese
A delicious examination of the classic couple of wine and cheese. What are some perfectly wonderful pairing arrangements that can be made? Winemaker and sommelier Tony Dollar of Lobo Hills will have suggestions and samples to taste.

Go through the thought and taste considerations that goes into making a red blend. Hear from an expert as to what directs and guides them when creating a blend. In this class you will blend your own red wine, bottle it, make a label and cap it!
