Sonderling: A Study in Chance
Join Life/Art Dance Ensemble in an exploration of individuality vs. conformity, the piece vs. the whole, and the role chance plays in the outcome. With live performance in both dance and music, plus interludes of film and visual art, this show will tear down the invisible curtain between the performers and the audience. You, as a member of the audience, have the power to help shape the performance.
"Sonderling" features the choreographic works of Josh Robinson and Jennifer Bourgeault of Collective Motion, a dance company based in Maine, as well as the works of several Life/Art Dancers: Jessica Riggs, Laura Morales, Megan Roney, Alberta Shulman, Ariel Holcomb, and Summer Templin Culp. Violinists Leslee Smucker and Megan Healy and Cellist Adam Riggs are also featured.
Sonderling: n. A person set apart with a mind of their own; an eccentric. (English translation of the German word). Sonder: n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. (The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows)
