The Peterson Garden Project is Chicago's original community gardening organization. Founded by LaManda Joy in 2010 by transforming a vacant lot on Chicago's North Side into a community food garden, the non-profit organization has blossomed, and today, Peterson Garden Project has multiple community food gardens in the city, thousands of members, and a cooking school to help people learn how to cook with the bounty from their gardens.
Les Dames d'Escoffier Chicago Chapter is thrilled to present the Peterson Garden Project with a $10,000 check as part of our Green Tables Initiative.
Please join us on Wednesday, May 16, when we will present the check to LaManda, who will share the story of Peterson Garden Project. Then, participate in a class on spice blending, where youll create your own personal spice blend to take home. And of course, there will be food and drink, including light appetizers from Income Tax and wine.
