Terrapin Flyer and Melvin Seals have been performing together nationally for the past 14 years. The band draws from seasoned musicians in a revolving lineup and often features former members of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band. Along with Melvin Seals, this tour features bassist Janis Wallin from Steve Kimocks Crazy Engine, Joe Chirco drummer from The Zen Tricksters & Halfstep, Josh Olken, Kara Cavanaugh and Doug Hagman from Terrapin Flyer.
Melvin Seals played Hammond B3 organ in the Jerry Garcia Band for 15 years and has honored Jerry's legacy with his band JGB in the years since. He is considered one of the finest Hammond B3 players in the world and was revered by Garcia, and his legion of fans, for bringing authentic gospel, jazz and R&B sensibilities to the improvisational realm.
Grateful Girls are an acoustic duo featuring Cindy Lopez on vocals and Katie Pearlman on guitar and vocals. This female duo is what you get when two strong front women share effortlessly in music: trading lead vocal duties and harmonizing throughout. Katie Pearlman, an accomplished singer/songwriter in her own right, plays acoustic guitar, while Cindy Lopez, a 20 year veteran of the Long Island music scene, sings and occasionally backs Katie with percussion instruments. These two women have similar tastes in music and a passion for writing and live performance. Their repertoire covers personalized takes on the music of The Grateful Dead, Motown, traditional standards, an occasional original and more. Since teaming up this pairing has enjoyed a highly favorable response, especially from other ladies who consider themselves Grateful Girls too. Audiences enjoy their sweet harmonies and fresh takes on old favorites, and its gone beyond the duo to the positive concept of women united in the enjoyment of live music while co-existing in a sisterhood of harmony. Not to mention that many accomplished male musicians have expressed interest in becoming a member of GG too! However, they are perfectly content within their simple yet powerful winning formula.
