Covenant Signing Ceremony
Churches have long been important partners in the RMO, Lancaster Countys reentry coalition. Over the past 13 years since the RMO was founded (2005), numerous Lancaster County congregations have provided mentors, material support, grants, and other resources for the RMOs returning citizens. In return, the RMO also provides assistance to congregations in the form of trainings, educational events, reentry resources, and support for justice-involved congregation members and families. Central to the mission of the RMO is creating and maintaining these important reciprocal relationships.
As a way to affirm, celebrate, and ensure the continuation of these relationships, we are entering into written covenants with congregations with whom we will continue and further expand this mutual support.
These congregations include:
Lancaster Friends Meeting
Grandview United Methodist
Holy Trinity Lutheran
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster
Holy Trinity Parish in Columbia
Bright Side Baptist
Saint Thomas Episcopal
Lancaster Theological Seminary
Guest speakers will include: * Danene Sorace, Mayor of the City of Lancaster, PA * Melanie G. Snyder, Director, RMO for Returning Citizens * Successful Returning Citizens
There will be a reception with light fare following the covenant signing.
The RMO for Returning Citizens (http://lancastercountyreentry.org/) has been working in Lancaster County for 12 years to address issues related to incarceration and reentry.
