Women's Work
"Women's Work" features 2 days of performances by over 2 dozen independent artists and is part of an initiative developed by Kristi Faulkner Dance to spur creative ideas and support the work of other artists.
As part of this initiative, Kristi Faulkner Dance has presented the work of over 50 independent artists to date, hosting "REGENERATION" (2016) and "ASSEMBLE" (2017).
"Women's Work" asks, if gender is a social construct and can be described as something that exists on a spectrum (if it exists at all), then what exactly is "women's work"? Thinking beyond the binary, how do we identify with the concept of "women's work" and what it means to move through this world as a woman, man, or person somewhere in-between? As a pejorative, "women's work" can carry negative connotations...but what about the value and importance of tasks and responsibilities traditionally relegated to the realm of women in various societies?
