Cash & The King
Come see Cash & The King live at the Mitchell Opera House on November 10, 2018! Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley both began their careers at Sun Studios in Memphis, TN. They were even on the same tour in 1955. Later in 1956 when Elvis visited Sun Studios (he had signed with RCA by then), Carl Perkins was in a recording session with Jerry Lee Lewis as his piano player. Johnny Cash had also stopped by. The four of them began a lengthy jam session and it all was recorded by Sun owner, Sam Phillips. This was The Million Dollar Quartet.Now you can go back in time as Cash & The King captures the feel and the sound of those 1955-56 tours that launched the careers of two of musics biggest icons.
This exciting combined tribute show features Andrew Kern as Johnny Cash and Brent Cooper as Elvis Presley. The show opens with special guest, vocalist Jamie Klein bringing her angelic voice to some classic country songs. Then Andrew Kern takes the stage with his uncanny tribute to the Man In Black, Johnny Cash. Andy has been performing he tribute to Cash with his band Big River since 2012. Enjoy all the classics like "I Walk The Line", "Folsom Prison Blues", "Get Rhythm" and more. After a short intermission, Brent Cooper brings back the excitement and the memories of The King from the early days of rock & roll of the late 1950's. Brent has been performing his popular Memories of The King tribute throughout the mid-west since 1997. Everyone will be dancing to "Blue Suede Shoes", "All Shook Up", "Don't Be Cruel" and much more.
Jamie Klein has been singing professionally and has been part of Brents shows since 2014. Besides opening for the show she joins each artist with a duet as well as singing back up. The band "Big River" provides the music for this entire show with the authentic sounds of early country & rock n' roll. This fun family friendly event is sure to be a big crowd pleaser!
