Cheah Chan Duo presents "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral"
Cheah Chan Duo celebrates Earth Day with "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral", an evening of piano and vocal works about flora and fauna. The recital will be held at the Church of Saint Luke in the Fields in the historic West Village on Friday, April 20th at 7:00pm.
This quirky program features Andrea Clearfield's "The Force of the Storm", a powerful setting of Rainer Maria Rilke's "Onto a Vast Plain", selections from Camille Saint-Saƫns beloved "Le carnaval des animaux", and Richard Hundley's riotous "The Elephant is Slow to Mate" based on the poetry of D.H. Lawrence. Works by Samuel Barber, Lili Boulanger, Rebecca Clarke, Carlos Guastavino, Lori Laitman, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frank J. Oteri, Francis Poulenc, Ned Rorem, and Richard Strauss round out the program.
Tickets for "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral" are $20 at the door and $15 in advance. For more information, please visit www.cheahchanduo.com.
