nora chipaumire Master Class
NOTE: online sales end at 5:30 pm, but there will be an opportunity to participate by showing up at the theater -- there are several spots still available. Payment is by cash only at the door.
nora chipaumire offers a movement experience geared towards technical understanding and development of the body as a physical instrument. The class will begin with a warm-up to experience the myriad ways the body functions and defies or accepts gravity, followed by a time of exploring and embodying noras physical language and sharing her understanding of the architecture and construction of space, time, and force in choreography. Participants will then learn sequences from her choreographic repertory and further be encouraged to synthesize explored concepts in order to create an original composition inspired by noras choreography. Through all parts of the class, students are invited to participate in reflecting and debating on the work to develop a Dance Literacy. Duration: Two hours
Participant requirements: Intermediate to Advanced and/or mature Participants should bring a journal and writing instrument and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
