Event
Jamie Laval in Raleigh, NC
Intimate living room concert in the home of Jeff Engel and Susan Ehrlich, two fine musicians in their own right and ardent supporters of Celtic roots music in North Carolina.
I'll be sharing tunes of the Scottish Highlands and Brittany (Celtic France) and recounting timeless myths.
Advance reservations are required as seating in their comfy, tasteful home is limited.
If you are a musician, please bring acoustic instruments and enjoy a community tune session after the concert.
Recognized throughout the U.S. and Britain as one of the premier performers of traditional folk music on the international music scene today, Jamie Laval creates rapt audiences with his passionate, virtuosic performances, uncanny imitation of Highland bagpipes, and engaging stories. One of the hottest fiddlers out there (Asheville Citizen-Times) and The next Alasdair Fraser (Press & Post), Laval performed for Her Majesty the Queen, appeared on Dave Matthews' platinum Some Devil album, and presented a TEDx Talk on the value of arts in our communities. Murmurs and Drones, Lavals third and most recent album, won the popular vote for Best World Traditional Album in the 2012 Independent Music Awards. Laval is also skilled composer, arranger of symphonic scores, and devoted educator.
The evening will feature toe-tapping melodies, traditional folk songs, and the recounting of amusing stories that help recreate the beautiful atmosphere of ancient Celtic lands.
