The Chicago Rope Social
The Chicago Rope Social is a monthly event co-sponsored by Chicago Rope and Second City Kinbaku. It's a community gathering where you can practice, meet new friends and play partners, and gain inspiration from others in the rope community. The Rope Social is open to all experience levels, and there's no pressure to play. Feel free to watch, ask questions, or just socialize.
As with all Chicago Rope and Second City Kinbaku events, the Chicago Rope Social is a queer and trans inclusive space. For more information on what that means, see our policies and mission statement.
SCHEDULE
Discussion Panel
7-8 PM
We offer our Discussion Panels free of charge as a service to the community. You are welcome to come just for the discussion, or to stick around for the social as well. April's Topic will be Switching: Rope from Both Sides.
Rope Social
8-11 PM
After the Discussion Panel concludes, well turn up the music and start playing! Feel free to bring food and your choice of non-alcoholic beverages.
PLAY
We're aiming for a chill, friendly and welcoming atmosphere to socialize and practice your rope skills, so we ask that you keep play focused on rope and keep the volume reasonable at this event.
DRESS
The dress code is "rope casual". Wear something you feel comfortable in, for both rope and socializing. Per city laws, we have to insist that you remain clothed for public spaces at all times.
EQUIPMENT
We'll have mats and a suspension frame set up, and Chicago Rope and Second City Kinbaku instructors will be available to help out if you need assistance.
PRICING
Pricing for the Social is $12 in advance or $15 at the door. You can get a $5 discount for bringing food or beverages to share with the group. Sliding scale is available upon request. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please email events@chicagorope.com in advance to request sliding scale or to sign up to volunteer.
WHO CAN ATTEND
This is an 18+ event. You must bring a government-issued ID to verify your age in order to be admitted.
