Hopleaf's Beer School
Welcome to the Hopleaf 'Beer School'.  On the 3rd Thursday of every month we will come together in the upstairs bar at Hopleaf to discuss (and taste) a particular topic or style of beer.  Join us for 1, for many, or for all.  Class will always start at 7pm sharp and should run about 1 to 1.5hrs

March 19th, 7pm
-Beer 101, All about beer: We will discuss the history of beer, how to taste, serving temperatures, glassware, beer and food pairing techniques, and of course taste some beers from around the world.

April 16th, 7pm (please note this class is longer at 2.5hr)
-Off Flavor sensory training: Ever wonder what the "beer experts" are looking out for when they evaluate beer? Well, there are a lot of potentially bad or "off'" flavors that can show up in beer. Join us at Hopleaf for a sensory training seminar and taste 6 "off" flavors that the experts train to know.  We will taste each of these 6 'off' flavors three times in three different kinds of beer. We'll also talk about the physiology of taste and the technique of tasting.

May 21st, 7pm
-Chicago Beer: Learn about the history of beer in Chicago and where it is today all while sampling some of the cities finest breweries

June 18th, 7pm
-Trappist beer: Learn about the history of the Trappists, what Trappist is, and where they are today; all while sampling some great Trappist beers of course.

July 16th, 7pm
-Sour Beer: There is a whole world of sour beers from the historic and sought after Gueuze of Belgium to the new age American Craft sour movement.  We'll talk about the world of sour beers while tasting some incredible examples.

Aug 20, 7pm
World of Wheat: There is nothing quite like a thirst quenching spicy and crisp wheat beer in the summer.  Wheat is the base of many famous styles and we'll talk about them while tasting the great examples.

(If you buy the whole series and need to miss a class, you can make up that session during the next run of the series, dates to be released in June.)
