Scottish/Cape Breton Fiddle Workshop with Katie McNally
The Scottish Fiddlers of L.A. are pleased to present an afternoon fiddle workshop with Katie McNally. Recently featured on the cover of Fiddler Magazine, Katie has performed and taught fiddle in the U.S., Canada, Spain, Scotland, England, and France. A member of the cross genre fiddle super-group Childsplay, she appears on As the Crow Flies, produced by legendary Irish fiddler, Liz Carroll. A student of acclaimed fiddler Hanneke Cassel, Katie has played at the Newport Folk Festival, the Barns at Wolf Trap, The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, and Benaroya Hall.

The workshop is open to fiddles and other melody/accompaniment instruments in the folk tradition (e.g., flute, mandolin, accordion, guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, cello, double bass). Attendees must have a basic level of proficiency on their instrument and should be prepared to learn tunes by ear (sheet music may be provided after the workshop). Chording and rhythm groove instruction will be provided for accompaniment instruments. Bring a recording device (e.g., smart phone) to capture the tunes!
