What Happens When You Flush Your Toilet
Friday May 11, 2018 10am - 12am
San Luis Obispo Water Resource Recovery Facility 35 Prado Rd. SLO
$5 for LLCC members, $10 for non-members
This course is a tour of the San Luis Obispo Water Resource Recovery Facility that will inform you about what happens to water from toilets, sinks, showers, manufacturing, and laundromats.
The City of San Luis Obispo Water Resource Recovery Facility produces a disinfected tertiary recycled water by removing the waste from wastewater that residents discharge to the sewer. This recycled water is suitable for irrigation and many other uses. This facility uses biological and mechanical processes to produce this high quality recycled water.
During the tour a key employee of the facility will explain to you the wastewater treatment process, including methods of collection, treatment, and disposal.
Much of this tour will involve walking outdoors, on terrain that is mostly flat. Participants must wear comfortable, close-toed shoes.
