Scottish/Cape Breton Piano Workshop with Barbara MacDonald Magone
The Scottish Fiddlers of L.A. are pleased to present an afternoon piano workshop with Barbara MacDonald Magone. Although born in Detroit, Barbara, the daughter of the late John A. MacDonald, a Cape Breton fiddler and founder of the Five MacDonald Fiddlers, was raised among transplanted Cape Bretoners and absorbed the music at an early age from her father, the local community, and visiting Cape Breton musicians. She spent childhood summers on Cape Breton Island and played with many of the Island's most noted fiddlers. It's a real treat to learn from such a tradition bearer!
Attendees must have at least an intermediate level of proficiency on the piano. Please contact chrispeoples@pobox.com prior to purchasing your ticket to ensure there is space available. Due to the logistics of organizing a piano workshop, attendance will be limited to a manageable size.
Barbara will also be accompanying fiddler, Katie McNally, on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles annual Spring Concert at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. For further information, see http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3319832
