Olli Soikkeli and Cesar Garabini Duo
We are pleased to welcome back the Finnish guitar sensation Olli Soikkeli, who has wowed our audiences several times before with his dazzling Django-style technique in Rhythm Future Quartet. Born in Nurmes, Finland in 1991, Olli is now based in New York City. He was introduced to the music of Django Reinhardt at the age of 12, and Gypsy jazz has been Ollis passion ever since. Despite his young age he has played with stars such as Bucky Pizzarelli, Andreas Oberg, Tommy Emmanuel, Marian Petrescu among others; as well as touring with Rhythm Future Quartet, led by Jason Annick. ollisoikkeli.com Olli will be on tour with Cesar Casten-Garabini, the great Brazilian seven-string guitar artist, also based in NYC. Gypsy meets choro! Brazilian chorinho and Gypsy jazz are a natural pair. Both matured in the early 20th century influenced by urbanization, industrialization, European classical music, African rhythms, popular dance music, and the dawn of the recording industry.
"Olli Soikkeli, is a riveting Finnish guitarist who combines astonishing dexterity and speed with pure soul in a way that places him among the worthiest current day successors to the legacy of the great Django." --The Wall Street Journal.
