Historic Homes of Trappe, PA Trip
Henry Melchior Muhlenberg was a very important Lutheran minister is early America and Trappe was where he lived and preached. Visit Augustus Lutheran Church, the Muhlenberg House, and the Speaker's House, owned by his son, Frederick Muhlenberg, first Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Also visit the privately-owned Daniel Hiester House, built in 1757. Lunch (provided) is at the Speaker's House.
Your tour is guided by Jennifer Royer, curator at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum. Jennifer has guided other tours for Landis Valley's Summer Institute and, most recently, curated the award-winning exhibit, "Weathervanes: Three Centuries of a Pennsylvania German Folk Art Tradition."
Trip is part of Landis Valley's 2018 Summer Institute.
Times to Remember: Breakfast: 8-9 a.m. Bus boards at 8:45 a.m. and departs at 9 a.m. Please note that prices quoted include a catered breakfast and lunch in the Yellow Barn each day for Institute participants. If you choose to forgo the meals, please choose the NO-MEAL pricing option, which is $20 less per day you are participating in Institute.
Cancellation Policy: Registrations will be taken up until June 1. We reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration. Students can make another choice or receive a full refund. Please read the information in your confirmation regarding any materials/tools you may need.
Students must be age 18 or older. Please visit our website, www.landisvalleymuseum.org, for more information on Institute. Landis Valley Associates (LVA) members receive 5% off their registration.
