SOJORN | sō-jɔrn | Old French | to take repose and reflection amidst one's ongoing journey.
To fans of the internationally acclaimed indie rock group Sigur Ros, it might be of no surprise to learn that band member Kjartan Sveinsson also composes Classical works rich in ethereal beauty. The nation's second presentation of Credo combines orchestra, chorus, and soloists to express a creed celebrating the commonalities of our humanity prone to divide.
The performance by The University of Minnesota Singers and Sojorn String Orchestra, led by conductor Matthew J. Olson, also includes Ola Gjeilo's setting of St. John of the Cross's Dark Night of the Soul and Arvo Pärt's unforgettable Spiegel im Spiegel. Award winning short films link the musical works creating an evening for pause to ponder our purpose in life's shared journey.
