LOS ANGELES CLARINET CHOIR SPRING CONCERT!
The internationally acclaimed LA Clarinet Choir-- a 15 member ensemble performing on soprano, sopranino, alto, bass and contrabass instruments-- is back with a new program, featuring the Southern California premiere of Percy Grainger's masterpiece, "The Lincolnshire Posy," in a stunning arrangement for clarinets by Matt Johnston! The world premieres of Barry Brisk's expressionistic "Clarinet Melange" and and the authorized adaptation of Luis Bacalov's romantic music from "Il Postino" by arranger Matteo Gervasi will join original works such as the Brazilian choro-samba "Chamegando" by Juliao Barbosa, and the Chinese-themed "In That Distant Place" for two soloists and ensemble by clarinetist/composer Christin Hablewitz, performing with soloist Hongsik Park. Jan Couek's arrangement of selections from "Peer Gynt" --including the show-stopping "Hall of the Mountain King", chamber music by German modernist Rolf Lorenz, and a show-and-tell of the instruments featuring themes from Alfred Reed's multi-cultural "Five Dances for Five Clarinets" will round out the program. Suitable for all ages!
