Music in the Chapel: Dusty Heart
Lakewood's Music in the Chapel concerts showcase a variety of artists in one of our city's most beloved architectural treasures, the Lakewood Memorial Chapel. On Sunday, June 10, experience the lush vocal harmonies and intricate sounds of guitar, fiddle and banjo that define Dusty Heart. Barbara Jean and Molly Dean are two songwriters recognized for their poetic lyrics and distinct vocal styles. Through their passion for poetry and musical harmony, Dusty Heart has crafted a sound that bridges together the diverse musical worlds of roots, indie, pop and folk.
Lakewood's Memorial Chapel will be open for viewing and self-guided tours beginning at 2:00 p.m. Dedicated in 1910, the Lakewood Memorial Chapel was modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul by prominent Minneapolis architect Harry Wild Jones. It features a 65-foot high dome ringed with stained glass windows and 12 mosaic angels. The Chapels mosaic interior, created by New York designer Charles Lamb, is made up of more than 10 million mosaic pieces of marble, colored stone and glass fused with gold and silver. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Chapel is one of the finest examples of Byzantine Revival architecture with mosaic interior in the country. Questions?
