JENI FLEMING has been winning the hearts of audiences for 20 years. As is often remarked, her style is tough to pin down but her voice leaves an indelible mark. Capacious and intimate, confident yet innocent, the timbre of her voice is AS hard to pigeon-hole. She continues to sing across the country as a headliner, but also has opened for such giants as Dave Brubeck, Cyrus Chestnut and Hank Jones. Jeni has 7 albums in her discography. jenifleming.com
BOB PACKWOOD boasts a lifetime career in music including a 15-year residency in New York City, many years of international touring and a discography featuring over 50 recordings! 5 of those touring years were spent with Canada's Juno Award-winning band, Blue Rodeo. Bob recently moved back to his home state of Montana to compose and record his first solo CD, Every Time I See You, and has quickly made himself indispensible in the Montana music scene. bobpackwood.com
TOGETHER their combined experience results in a performance that is at once generous and intimate. There's an element to their delivery that says they're not really there to "sell" you the music, they simply open up and let it unfold, unhurried and without ambition. Their collective ability to inhabit and transform songs from disparate genres allows them to set a tragic ballad next to an irreverent shuffle without explanation. Fair warning, it's their ballads that'll get you; the ambience they create makes time seem like a hazy concept. The material they choose are all stories about the Humanity that binds us together, and yet there's still something almost voyeuristic about their presentation, the juxtaposition in itself is compelling. These musicians have 2 exemplary things; they manipulate silence as a 3 member of their ensemble, and they exploit the intimate connection that music can afford. The effect is pretty fantastic.
