18 Reasons Tuesday, March 19, 7-9PM, Ticketed Pork Provender in the Home Kitchen: Screening & Discussion $10 for 18 Reasons members; $12 for the general public
Join 18 Reasons and homesteader/ filmmaker/ butcher Andrew Plotsky in the screening of his short film series On The Anatomy of Thift: Pork Provender in the Home Kitchen.
On The Anatomy Of Thrift is a series of instructional videos on the subject of traditional pork processing, produced by Farmrun and Farmstead Meatsmith. They cover the spectrum of topics from husbandry to cookery, and sprinkled amidst the practical how-to content of the series are discussions of the philosophical and theoretical foundations of traditional processing methods.
Funded by a Kickstarter campaign in the summer of 2011, the series is composed of four installments, including the fundraising video, that explicitly adress the topics of pork butchery, cookery on harvest day, and curing pork.
Andrew Plotsky is a film maker and meatsmith who lives on Vashon Island in the Puget Sound. He runs Farmrun, a creative studio that provides film and design services to agrarian enterprises.
