ASCE Seattle Section Ports and Harbors Committee Monthly Dinner
Bob Harn, senior project manager at BergerABAM, will present an overview of the new ASCE professional standard "Seismic Design of Pile-Supported Piers and Wharves." The document has been approved by the committee, reviewed by ASCE and is currently out for public comment. The presentation will focus on provisions that may be new to users. In addition Stuart Stringer of BergerABAM will present an overview of the testing and analysis behind the seismic stability provisions.
Speakers: Bob Harn is a Senior Project Manager at BergerABAM. He is a task committee chairman on the ASCE committee that has developed the new "Seismic Code for Piers and Wharves" which is the subject of this presentation. He has 36 years of experience as a civil and structural engineer, of which 32 years have been with BERGER/ABAM. He has authored or co-authored 14 papers related to seismic performance or construction/retrofit of marine structures. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Montana State University. Stuart Stringer is an Engineer at BergerABAM. He earned a BSCE in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington and a MSCE in Structural Engineering from the University of Washington. Mr. Stringer specializes in the seismic design and analysis of waterfront and bridge structures.
