Stellaria presents Messiah Up Close: Passion and Resurrection
After their hugely successful Christmas presentation of Part One of Handel's Messiah, Stellaria is pleased to announce the continuation of this unique and exciting project with *one performance only* of Parts Two and Three in the week leading up to Easter 2013.
Stellaria's usual 8 singers, Steven Belanger, Derrick Christian, Eric Hannan, Fabiana Katz, Paula Kremer, Siri Olesen, Carman J. Price and Madeline Lucy Smith will be joined by some of Vancouver's finest early music instrumentalists, including Nancy DiNovo and Paul Luchkow (violins), Isabelle Roland (viola), Marina Hasselberg (cello) and David Poon (harpsichord), as well as guest singers Jane Long, Karen Elizabeth Mang, Dean Edmundson, C.D. Saint and Paul Nash.
Celebrated local composer, Lloyd Burritt had this to say about Stellaria's December 2012 performance of Part One:
"Stellaria's Messiah at Holy Rosary Cathedral was out of this world! I never want to hear a massed choir perform the Messiah again. Stellaria (only twelve of them), string quartet and harpsichord played with the echo in the cathedral to create a soaring, spiral arc that sparked brighter than fireworks in English Bay on a midsummer night. They've promised us Part Two for Easter -- and I can hardly wait! Stellaria are here to stay. I can't imagine Christmas without them after this afternoon's performance."
