Songwriters Showcase: Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer Friday, April 20, 7:00pm Northwind Arts Center 701 Water Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 Tickets: davemandynorthwind.brownpapertickets.com
Northwind Arts Center joins Matt Miner Presents in welcoming San Juan Island-based songwriter duo Dave McGraw & Mandy Fer http://daveandmandymusic.com/ for an evening of home-grown tunes, Friday April 20 at 7:00pm. Media sponsor for this series is KPTZ-FM radio.
Known as a standout electric guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Mandy Fer is unafraid to dominate the stage for an extended guitar solo, defying long-held gender barriers for female guitarists. Dave McGraws emotional songwriting riffs on natural elements of the world around him. McGraw spent a decade as a wildlife biologist, studying endangered birds in remote locales from the deserts of Mexico and the Grand Canyon to the mountainous rainforests of Washington. McGraw and Fer joined forces in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2010 before relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2012.
The duos 2014 release Maritime charted at #1 on the EuroAmericana Chart for two consecutive months and was praised by The Telegraph for soulful songs, intuitive musicianship, and fine singing.
Together, their exceptional vocal harmonies coupled with Fers pioneering electric guitar work have become a vehicle to carry them around the world. The pair has honed their skills touring extensively throughout the US and Europe, sharing stages with fellow troubadours including Iron & Wine, Glen Hansard, Gregory Alan Isakov, Kelly Joe Phelps, Birds of Chicago and many others.
Every now and then an album comes along that is so good, you just cant get anything else done With an immediately warm and soothing feel to the record, the rich acoustic sound and perfectly pitched vocals courtesy of both singers, together with some fine electric guitar playing makes SEED OF A PINE essential listeningsome of the most delicious harmonies to have reached this reviewers ears thus far -Northern Sky Music Magazine(UK)
Advance tickets are $12 each at Northwind Arts Center or from davemandynorthwind.brownpapertickets.com, or $15 at the door.
