A film-noir styled telling of Shakespeare's tragedy, set in 1945 Los Angeles: Nat Hamill, scion of the family that owns Hollywood's Majestic Studios, returns home from the war to find that his recently deceased father may have been murdered. THE CONFESSION by Mary Roberts Rinehart. A world premiere City Lit adaptation of a psychological thriller by the early 20th Century's most prolific and successful female American mystery writer. A woman rents a house and finds in it a confession to--but no evidence of--a horrible crime. Adapted and directed by TERRY McCABE. November 7-December 14, 2008.
SCOUNDREL TIME by Lillian Hellman. A world premiere City Lit adaptation of Hellman's memoir of the 1950s blacklisting era. January 30-March 8, 2009.
OLD TIMES by Harold Pinter and PRIVATE LIVES by Noel Coward, running in repertory. An enigmatic drama and a sophisticated comedy, both about the effect of old love upon new, performed in alternating repertory by the same actors. Directed by TERRY McCABE. March 20-May 3, 2009.
