From India with Love is a documentary film about six Americans who are all victims of violence from diverse backgrounds and who embarked on an epic 10-day journey to India in March 2016. Their trip was inspired by a similar journey to India that was taken by Dr. King when in 1959, he had also visited India to deepen his understanding of nonviolence. The film shows how the trip to India renews their spirit and empowers them with new tools, wisdom and inspiration to heal the wounds of violence and become ambassadors of nonviolence in their communities.
The group included: a single mother whose son was brutally murdered in a tragic school shooting (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) and her best friend, a former gang member (Los Angeles, California), an educator (Newark, New Jersey), a social entrepreneur and a music scholar (both advocates for the Movement for Black Lives from Oakland, California).This group of kindred spirits is led on the pilgrimage by a meditation teacher and peace activist steeped in Eastern spiritual traditions, who has lived and worked in the United States for over 20 years.
