Frogg Cafe is a 5 piece band from the New York metropolitan area making music that incorporates elements of Zappa-esque progressive rock, pop melodicism and fusion jazz. Frogg Cafés music is also peppered with an appealing variety of other flavors including latin music, bluegrass, modern chamber music and avant-garde/experimental. Energetic live shows feature extended flights of group improvisation that would draw grins from any hardcore jam-band fan. The members of this unique group are Nick Lieto (vocals, keyboards, trumpet, flugelhorn), Bill Ayasse (vocals, electric violin, mandolin), Andrew Sussman (vocals, bass, cello), John Lieto (vocals, trombone) and James Guarnieri (drums). Frogg Café studio albums also exploit the considerable talents of a regular supporting cast of guest musicians, who supply trombone, marimba, flute, and additional percussion to their colorful and highly textured arrangements. www.froggcafe.com
Tammy Scheffer: Born in Belgium, raised in Israel and currently residing in Brooklyn, vocalist and composer Tammy Scheffers music combines influences of contemporary jazz with her own expressive voice and a strong sense of melody. Growing up in a musical family, Tammy started performing professionally at the age of 18. Later she attended Rimon School of Jazz, and was captivated by the contemporary jazz sound. Inspired to search for her own personal voice, Tammy decided to move to the United States and look for new musical challenges. Attending the New England Conservatory, she studied with Jerry Bergonzi, Jerry Leake and Dominique Eade. Tammy has performed at venues including the Chicago Cultural Center, Alevrno College in Milwaukee, and the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. Other notable performances include the Virginia Arts Festival, the Regattabar in Boston, the Fat Cat in NY and the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival in Israel. Recently Tammy played on Michael Feinbergs latest album, Evil Genius, and in saxophonist Brian Hogans album, to be released by Turnaround Records. In recent years she has worked with Jeff Berlin, Kevin Mahogany, Aaron Goldberg, Anat Fort, Sam Barsh, Luques Curtis and Obed Calvaire. Tammy is a recipient of a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. www.tammyscheffer.com
