Crash Course in Marionettes
Learn the basics of string puppetry performance and construction by getting your feet wet in this hands-on workshop. We'll start with performance exercises using very simple marionettes. introduce the physical principles behind marionettes, work on construction techniques and get hands-on experience with more complex marionettes.
Kurt Hunter has been following his fascination with marionettes for over thirty years. He has worked on marionettes for "A Prelude to Faust" and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" at Open Eye Figure Theatre. As a solo puppeteer he has performed at the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and most recently the Jarvis Conservatory in Napa, California.
