Traditional Band Boxes class at Landis Valley
The making of band boxes is a very old craft and, in this class, you'll learn the history, us and art of creating your won wallpaper covered, hand-sewn containers. You will make a medium-sized oval cardboard box, covered with vintage wallpaper and lined with old newspapers. Other boxes can be made as time permits.
Susan Kelleher has been making band boxes and other historic handcrafts for decades, sharing her work with the public as an interpreter at Landis Valley and later as an instructor. Her other specialties include weaving rye straw baskets.
