The Drowsy Chaperone
The Award winning Analy Arts Theatre Department of Analy High School presents this season's muscial within a comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. The Drowsy Chaperone is an homage to American muscials of the Jazz Age, examining the effect musicals have on the fans who adore them. The Woman in the Chair, a mousey, agoraphobic Broadway fanatic is seeking to cure her "non-specific sadness" by listening to a recording of a fictional 1928 musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. As she listens to this rare recording, she is transported into the musical. The characters appear in her dingy apartment, and it is transformed into an impressive Broadway set with sea shell footlights, sparkling furniture, painted backdrops, and glitzy costumes...or does it? Well, you'll just have to come and see for yourself! A muscial within a comedy, fun characters, great, catchy tunes, and loads of mayhem, oh, and a wedding! Those are the elements you get in this zany musical. Director Starr Hergenrather is thrilled to be working with Music and Vocal Director Janis Dunson Wilson again, and a special treat of bringing back a graduate, Alissa Sanchez, to do the choreography. Show dates are March 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 at 7:00pm and one matinee March 10th at 2:00pm. Ticket prices are General Admission $12 and Students/Seniors $10 purchased in advance through brownpapertickets.com and General Admission $15 and Students/Seniors $12 purchased at the door the night of the performance. Those 62 years and older are considered seniors. All seating is general seating.
