826michigan Presents "Improvisational Writing" with Andy Mozina!
A great way to stretch your imagination, generate story ideas and introduce surprise, movement and change into your fiction is to invite the random into your work and then make sense of it. Rubber duckies and intercontinental ballistic missiles? Deep down, they know each other. An eating disorder and dirty money--secret best friends. In this class, we'll look at a brief model text or two and then do like the improv theatre folks do and riff on the random in an organized way.
Andy Mozina is the author of the story collection The Women Were Leaving the Men, which won the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award. His fiction has appeared in Tin House, Ecotone, Fence, The Southern Review, The Missouri Review and elsewhere.
Reserve your spot in "Improvisational Writing" for $25, or take advantage of our special Bring-a-Friend discount and reserve two for $40! This workshop will feature baked goods provided by Zingerman's Deli. Proceeds from the How To Write Like I Do series benefit local nonprofit 826michigan.
826michigan is a nonprofit organization serving 2,500 students in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Detroit with free creative writing and tutoring programs. To learn more about 826michigan and its volunteer-driven services, please visit www.826michigan.org or call (734) 761-3463.
