Addicts Anonymous
Transactors Improv presents "Addicts Anonymous" as part of the Transactors Experimental Theater (TET) series. TET is the company's improv incubator in which it explores new performance forms, themes, and working with new artists.
"Addicts Anonymous" is a spontaneous long-form performance based on characters who struggle with a similar addiction, which will be chosen by the audience. The show begins at a 12-step program meeting and then follows the program participants through their relationships, trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Characters process their experiences and recovery in recurring scenes set at 12-step meetings.
"It's a juicy set up," says show director Anoo Brod, "because with addiction the stakes are intrinsically high. Also most of us can relate to being addicted to something whether it's small or large. We all know that feeling of not being able to stay away from something we know we should! As with any subject that has emotions running so deep, you have the basis for a fun night of theater!"
As always, Transactors makes everything up on the spot and aims to mix the serious with the silly to create a performance that will leave the audience talking and thinking about it long after the show is over.
The cast for "Addicts Anonymous" will Transactors regulars Mike Beard, Anoo Brod, Greg Hohn, and Steven Warnock and guest players, including Bart Hubbard.
