35th Annual Jazz Fed Piano Showcase
The San Luis Obispo County Jazz Federation proudly present its 35th annual Piano Showcase on Saturday night, April 14, at the Unity Concert Hall (1130 Orcutt Road/ SLO). The concert starts at 7:30pm (doors open at 7:00pm).
The concert spotlights several of our finest local pianists in a trio setting. Featured this year are: Mark Bocchicchio, George Garcia, Bob Harway, Marshall Otwell, and Paul Rinzler. Drummer Darrell Voss and bassist Dylan Johnson form the stellar rhythm section.
In a special tribute to the 1984 series' founding concert, four of the musicians who played in the original showcase will also perform that night: Bob Harway, Gary Ryan and Craig Updegrove will each play a tune with the first series drummer, John Nye.
Concert tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for Jazz Fed Members and $10 for students. Advance tickets, which are highly recommended, can be purchased at Boo Boo Records/SLO or on-line through BrownPaperTickets.com.
This concert is a continuation of the Marilyn Greenberg Memorial Series. (Marilyn, who passed away in 2009, was a founding member and strong supporter of the Jazz Fed.)
