On the evenings of April 20 - 22, 2018, at Dance Mission Theater, dazaun.dance is presenting the world premiere of existence. existence is a visceral exploration that uses the dynamic aesthetics of hip-hop, contemporary and floor techniques in order to reveal the beauty and complexity of the minority experience with code switching and assimilation.

Code switching is the phenomenon of an individual adapting their speech to the dominant language or culture in order to succeed or fit in. existence expands or translates whats conventionally understood as a linguistic practice to the world of the body. The work uses the company members experience with code switching as the foundation for the creation.
