31st Annual Sheepshearing Festival at Gore Place
SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2018 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. RAIN OR SHINE. Our Sheepshearing Festival is turning 31 this year! $20 adults, Free for children 12 and under and Gore Place Members. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets available at the gates on the day and will be available online on March 20.
Separate charge for wagon rides and mansion tour. The festival features both traditional manual blade sheep shearing in addition to electric sheep shearing. Afterwards, the sheep fleeces are collected and sold. Our merino and Leicester longwool sheep are sheared the traditional way with other sheep brought in for the electric shearing. Our fiber tent area offers dozens of fiber artists specializing in wool yarn, roving, knitting kits, and finished wool products. Some even bring animals or special demonstrations. Dont miss the popular sheepherding demonstrations with border collies on the South Lawn. Our crafter area has 75 booths with artisans selling handmade candles, birdhouses, jewelry, metalwork, pottery, and more! After viewing shearing demonstrations and shopping, join us on a tour of the mansion, watch the historic re-enactors, listen to live music, take a wagon ride (separate charge), and more! Interested in group rates? For groups with 20 adults or more, please email Thom Roach at events@goreplace.org.
