NJProghouse Presents: Brand X with special guest District 97
Brand X

BRAND X finished off 2017 with a bang, touring the entire West Coast USA selling out numerous shows, as well as getting industry recognition in four different categories with their 2017 release: But Wait Theres More!

#20 Album in ALL ABOUT JAZZ
             #13 International Sales BURNING SHED
#11 Prog Charts in PROG MAG
             #  2 Radio in NEW-EARS Boston

For 2018 Brand X  has assembled a new show, with new songs and new production. The tour starts with a headlining spot at RoS-Festival on May 4th in Gettysburg, PA.  Founding member and Guitarist John Goodsall: Its RoS-Fest 15 year anniversary, so were honored to get the nod to headline opening night.  The new show brings with it a host of new songs we havent played in ages  and some never before at all  and so begins another chapter in the history of Brand X.  Its quite nice they have Italian band P.F.M. playing on Sunday  theyre good.

The new tour is in support of Brand Xs new album Locked & Loaded with founders Goodsall & Percy Jones still at the helm.  Keyboardist Chris Clark, Percussionist  Scott Weinberger, and Drummer Kenny Grohowski each bring their own creative style of playing that make Brand X such a magical act live.

The seeds were sown years ago in London as players in a studio band for many of Brian Enos infamous solo albums.  Drummer Phil Collins and Bassist Percy Jones got to know each other through those sessions.  Later Jones and Guitarist John Goodsall officially formed Brand X.  Bill Bruford even played a few shows, but was too tied up with King Crimson, so it wasnt too long before Collins was locked in behind the kit on Drums.  Brand X then signed with Genesis management company and they were off and running on three.  With their initial albums Unorthodox Behaviour, Moroccan Roll and Livestock many critics were soon dubbing Brand X The pioneers of the Jazz-Rock-Fusion.   Today the band carries with it more Funk and Rock and less Jazz, but the improve sections are still pure heaven.

Phil Collins played simultaneously in Genesis and Brand X for the early years  a balancing act he handled well  and some claim some of Collins best work appears on those Brand X albums.  Collins once explained his love for the energy and freedom created by Brand X thusly: Genesis is like my wife, but Brand X is like a hot mistress -- with big tits!  Goodsall, Jones and the band continue to bring the heat, lighting up shows for the past year on their Reunion Tour.

Brand X has been heralded in articles by The Huffington Post, Progression Magazine, English columnist Sid Smith, Music Journalist Anil Prassad, The Mid-Atlantic Music Journal, and more for their consistently red hot and diverse shows.  Aside from their world-class musicianship, youll find a dry English wit popping up reminiscent of Monty Python, Benny Hill and others.  With song titles like:  Why Should I Lend You Mine, When Youve Broken Off Yours Already? or Smacks of Euphoric Hysteria  theres never a dull moment  All that mixed with some of the most diverse music youve possibly heard in years, including fan favorites from their best known albums: "Unorthodox Behaviour", "Moroccan Roll", "Livestock", "Masques", "Do They Hurt?", "Product" Is There Anything About? and now of course 2017s double album: But Wait Theres More!

Brand X are often mentioned in the same circles as Weather Report,  John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Jaco Pastorius etc  Brand X have influenced modern day bands like Dream Theater and Phish.   On the recent West Coast tour, members of Metallica, The Dixie Dregs, King Crimson, Renaissance, Dream Theater and others came out to catch the X-Men in action. 2018s new album was recorded by YES Engineer Dave Wilkerson and is mixed by legendary producer  Stephen W. Tayler at Peter Gabriels Real World Studios in England.  Tayler is known for his work with Gabriel, Kate Bush, Underworld, Stevie Nicks, Suzanne Vega, Rush, Bill Bruford, and Brand X to name a few.  The new album is produced by Brand Xs own Scott Weinberger and Norman Bedford.
