Youth in Focus Summer 2018 Photography Camps!
Summer Camps open to youth 10 - 17 years old and are suitable for all experience levels. 10 youth maximum per camp
Full Day, 9:30am - 4:30pm ($600) Half Day: morning and afternoon sessions ($350) Camps are held at Youth in Focus and all supplies/equipment are included in the cost. Please contact Youth in Focus for refund information if needed.
CREATIVE DARKROOM FULL DAY, July 9th - 13th (9:30am - 4:30pm) Learn basic and advance techniques of both the SLR camera and black & white darkroom. Students will do on location shooting, use 35mm film, develop and print their images using traditional darkroom techniques, learn composition, critique methods and alternative processes.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY DEEPDIVE HALF DAY, July 9th - 13th (9:30am - 12:30pm) Learn the skills behind how to take and create digital photographs to share your personal story. Youth will learn the fundamentals of in-camera shooting, composition and an introduction to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, in order to make beautiful photographs that share what matters most to them.
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY HALF DAY, July 9th - 13th (1:30pm - 4:30pm) Explore Seattle with a camera in hand, learning the ins and outs of street photography. Students will learn fundamentals of digital photography, do on-location shooting putting their skills into practice and will then edit their images using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
CREATIVE DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY FULL DAY, July 16th - 20th (9:30am - 4:30pm) Take your digital photography skills to the next level: youth will learn advance digital techniques such as in-camera doublexposure, light painting and post-production editing processes using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. They will do on location shooting with a DSLR camera, learning composition and critique methods. They will also learn about other photographers and alternative editing techniques.
DARKROOM DEEPDIVE HALF DAY, July 16th - 20th (9:30am - 12:30pm) Learn the magic of film photography including basic and advance techniques of the camera and darkroom. Students will do on location shooting, use 35mm film, develop and print their images, and learn composition, alternative processes and critique methods.
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY (DARKROOM) HALF DAY, July 16th - 20th (1:30PM - 4:30PM) Explore Seattle with a film camera in hand, learning the ins and outs of street photography. Students will do on location shooting, use 35mm film, develop and print their images, and learn composition, alternative processes and critique methods.
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY FULL DAY, July 23rd - 27th (9:30am - 4:30pm) Explore the communities you call home with a DSLR camera in hand, learning the ins and outs of street photography and how to capture an image in public. Students will learn fundamentals of digital photography, do on-location shooting through neighborhood walking tours putting their skills into practice and will then edit their images using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
GREAT OUTDOORS - NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY HALF DAY, July 30th - August 3rd (9:30am - 12:30pm) Get outside and explore your neighborhood parks and nature up close. Using a digital camera, students will learn the fundamentals of photography and composition. They will explore Seattle parks by foot, capturing landscape photos and nature scenes and will then use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to edit and create their outdoor masterpieces.
Youth in Focus mission is to empower youth, through photography, to experience their world in new ways and to make positive choices for their lives. We put cameras in the hands of youth and place them in a challenging environment surrounded by high quality talented teachers, nurturing adult volunteer mentors, and create a strong community of support. Through photography our students find their voice, identity, creativity, and gain new confidence in their worth and abilities.
